Indigent Defense Studies
Since our inception, The Spangenberg Group has provide local, state and federal entities with a wide array of indigent defense technical assistance, including: site assessments of indigent defense systems; research and educational support for state and local indigent defense task forces; computerized case-tracking support; litigation support; case-weighting studies and more. read more.

International Projects
Launched in 1998, our International Division has served as consultants to government and/or legal aid organizations in countries such as Cambodia, China, England and Wales, Scotland and the Slovak Republic. Our most recent work involves training legal aid lawyers and providers in the People’s Republic of China and working on sustaining women’s legal services Centers in China. Read more.

Civil Legal Needs Studies
Methodology for these studies combines three primary elements: a telephone survey of low-income individuals within the jurisdiction under review; a mail questionnaire to all providers of free civil legal services in the area; and extensive on-site interviews with individuals familiar with the legal needs of low-income people, individuals who directly provide these services, and members of the three branches of government who are involved with legal services policy, funding and case adjudication. Multi Jurisdictional Studies
The Spangenberg Group recognizes the inter-connected nature of the justice system, and approaches a given problem in one component of the justice system within the context of the entire justice system, under the theory that changes to one component will necessarily affect the other components.
